rom the Frederick News-Post: Hood professor’s collection far from elementary (2006/03/09).
FREDERICK — “Elementary, my dear Watson,” has taken on a deeper meaning for Paul Churchill, a professor of Latin at Hood College.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories have become a big part of Mr. Churchill’s life since they first captured his attention in 1976.
Mr. Churchill has illustrated covers for about 30 Sherlock Holmes books and has translated “The Musgrave Ritual” into Latin — “Ritualia Musgraviensia.” Also, he has been transforming his living room and dining room into recreations of Sherlock Holmes’ 221b Baker Street digs since the mid-’90s.
